Personal message from Sam Hancock
- After nearly 5 injury-blighted weeks out of training, I am thrilled/amazed/actually-rather-scared to say that I WILL after all be making my London Marathon debut on April 25th following a successful 20-miler training run yesterday (ignore the fact I'm currently walking around like an 83-year old)
- Given the previous uncertainty of being able to take part, you'll understand why I spared you the barrage of sponsorship pleas, but now that it's game on (and just 2 weeks away!) I plan on making up for lost time - so brace yourselves!!
- So... please, please consider parting with your hard-earned cash, not for me, but for the hundreds of seriously and terminally ill kids supported by the wonderful, fantastic people at Starlight Childrens Foundation - a truly amazing charity. They'll use your kind donations to brighten the otherwise traumatic lives of very unwell children and their families by granting wishes and making their most special dreams come true. I've known the Starlight guys for a long time now and have seen the power of their work first hand - please take my word for it, it's quite incredible and your money couldn't be going to a better place.
In return, I'll offer the following:
- The chance to heckle and throw things at me (preferably sweets and water) from the trackside on race day - I'll chuck in another fiver for every one of you I see out there whose sponsored me, so please come out and support!! Spectator info here.
- The chance to heckle and throw things at me (preferably knickers) at The Elgin pub this Tuesday night (13th April) when my old school band, 'The Haze' reform for one night only in aid of this fund raising effort (£5 entry)!
